Google Nest Mini keeps disconnecting from WiFi: How to fix 2022 BlinqBlinq 2022

Apparently, the issue happens when the Google Nest Mini auto checks for firmware updates. Open the Google Home app and select the correct Google account. Tap Yes to verify the soundcheck, select a device location, and enter a name.

Restart your device and install Google Home from Play Store. Tap “Set up device” and follow further instructions to add the Google Nest. Even if your router is brand new, you could be having this issue. You may need to add a WiFi extender or, if you have a mesh router, add an additional satellite node to enhance the WiFi strength in that area. If that’s the case then it’s time to dig deeper and do a more thorough investigation.

How do I change my Wi-Fi settings on Google Home 2021?

You can also uninstall and reinstall the app if you find the following steps confusing. Do note that this might clear some files of other newly connected Google Home device files too, and you might need to pair them again. As mentioned before, Google doesn't allow disabling or manually updating the firmware of their Google Home devices. This can also help if you suspect something else is the issue that triggers your unlinking of your Google account. Before jumping straight to blaming Google for all the issues, it's always best to check and verify whether the issues are not a result of mistakes from the user end. The only way to fix this issue from the user end is to look for and implement certain tweaks and troubleshooting checks with the Google Nest Mini.

If you’ve still got problems, I regret to inform you your device may be toast. You can contact Google for support, or reach out to the store where you purchased the Nest Mini. It looks like one of those situations where waiting for a patch update may be necessary to fully resolve the issue. First, Google warns that other appliances throughout your home can emit ultrasound vibrations that interfere with the Mini’s sensors. Try to move the Mini to an isolated spot, and see if the sensors seem to work better there — it could just be a location issue.

From the Quick view menu on your thermostat, select Settings . Blinking blue means that someone's talking through the speaker. The Google Nest Mini does not act as a router and therefore does not increase the range of the WiFi signal. Alternatively, Google Nest Points can extend the WiFi range of signals from a Google Nest router. It's possible to use the Google Nest Mini without WiFi, but it only works as a non-smart Bluetooth speaker at this point.

To avoid this, make sure your phone and Google Home speaker are far away from the router. You can even try testing the connection by placing the router in a separate room to see if it works well. Wi-Fi interference can also be a key culprit behind your Google Home constantly dropping connections. The Bluetooth LE technology and Wi-Fi both operate on the same 2.4 GHz frequency, so there’s a strong chance of interference.

You can also try reinstalling the Google Home app and setting up your Home again. Although this doesn’t have much to do with connectivity issues, it’s still a viable troubleshooting step. So, try disconnecting some devices as a short-term solution. For the long-term solution, consider getting a mesh router. If that doesn’t help and your Google Home keeps disconnecting, make sure to continue with the next solution.

Being forced to take matters into my own hands, I figured I should just create a detailed troubleshooting guide that might help you fix all your WiFi connection problems. Some users have reported that putting your phone on Airplane mode can solve this issue. Basically, you switch on Airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth right after. Before Casting, you have to check whether your media app supports casting. Common apps that support casting include Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Google Music, and more.

It will take most of the network to give you constant updates on the weather and the news. Make sure you see the correct home name listed at the top , and then tap Settings. The most likely reason why Google Home doesn’t respond when you talk to it is because you’re not talking loud enough. Move closer to it or permanently place it somewhere it can more easily hear you.

One of the logical steps they provided was to use different names for the 2.4GHz signal and 5GHz signal respectively. Open the Google Home app and navigate to the Your Device option. A worn-out cable can cause a lot of issues with the Google Nest Mini.

This is a free app that allows you to analyze the WiFi strength of your router, and of any other WiFi signals nearby. One of the sources of the worst interference you can experience is from a neighbor’s strong WiFi network near one of your WiFi access points or your router. First, by moving your Google Home closer to your router, the WiFi signal strength should improve. Signal strength is always highest right next to the router. Your smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs – basically anything connected to WiFi in your home, are all competing with your Google Home for connectivity.

It just keeps disconnecting and doesn't reconnect unless I unplugged it and plugged it back. There’s really no telling how soon Google will fix this issue, but at least the company has finally confirmed it’s a problem and is something they plan to resolve. Neither of those, though, will solve the issue of using a bigger speaker for audio from a Google Home device.

Power Cycle The Devices

Once the speaker is in Pairing Mode, you will be able to find it on the device you want to connect it with. Follow the setup steps to set up your device on the new Wi-Fi network. If Google Home or Mini continues to throw the ‘couldn’t communicate’ error during setup, turn on Bluetooth. Go to Settings on your Android or iPhone and turn on Bluetooth. Then, open the Google Home app and start the set up with Bluetooth turned on. For Nest Hub, press the upper volume button on the back.

Performing a power cycle on your Google Home device is one of the first fixes you should try. There are two ways you can do this – you can use the app or reboot it manually. The universal reboot method is to hold down your power button for about 10 seconds.
